ARGIROUPOLI
Argiroupolis is 27 km. southwest of Rethimnon. A village nested among greenery, build on a knoll not far away from springs that feed some enormous cisterns. Lower down the springs push waterfalls that make small cataracts.There's an interesting local festival, on April 23,when flocks of sheep are brought at dawn to the church to be milked,sheared and dedicated to Ayios Yioryios,their patron saint and protector.
Argiroupolis is a nice small village with very big trees and wild plants.Water falls from everywhere and is a perfect place to relax and to taste a fabulus Cretan plate in the yard under the trees.They serve here tradtional cretan food, meat and milk products pure and tastefully.
